A man has been arrested and class A drugs have been seized as officers work hard to tackle drug dealing in Potters Bar. The arrest took place in the High Street at around 5.30pm on Friday 8 May. Officers from the Potters Bar and Shenley Neighbourhood Policing Team had been carrying out proactive searches to locate a hire car which had been identified as a vehicle of interest. When initial efforts proved unsuccessful, they reached out to the hire company who confirmed the vehicle had been returned. Further enquiries were carried out and new intelligence revealed that the suspect had hired another vehicle. The new vehicle was stopped in the High Street and the driver was searched. Officers seized three wraps of cocaine, a vacuum-sealed bag believed to contain uncut cocaine, a mobile phone and a quantity of cash. The driver, a 44 year old man from Potters Bar, was arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply. He has been bailed while enquiries continue. PC Jack Laycock, from the Potters Bar and Shenley Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This arrest was the result of swift information sharing, persistence, and proactive policing. We know the public feel strongly about drug dealing and I hope the news of this arrest reassures you that we are determined to tackle it.” You can use Herts Connected to let us know what you think we should be prioritising in your area.
